Cavitation is the formation of vapor bubbles in a liquid due to low pressure.
Best Efficiency Point
A pump has a specific efficiency curve (Head vs. Flow). The BEP is the peak of that curve.

This is the pressure available at the suction pipe to prevent cavitation.
